Pulaski County Schools Top 2%
PULASKI COUNTY SCHOOLS RANKED IN TOP 2% OF DISTRICTS IN THE STATE
Again earn “distinguished district” designation

The recent release of the state assessment scores finds the Pulaski County School System continuing to make their mark statewide.  After an impressive top 7% ranking last year, the county school system moves to the top 2% of districts in the state according to this week’s release of Kentucky’s assessment scores.  This has earned the Pulaski County School System a distinguished district designation, the highest level under Kentucky’s Unbridled Learning system.

“To be where we are doesn’t come by accident. It takes a lot of focus and a lot of work from everyone at all levels. Being in the top 2% in the state is validation that our resources and efforts have been in the right places
,” said Superintendent Steve Butcher.  Read More

SMS Students Win Geography Challenge
Each spring sixth grade students from across the nation compete in the National Geography Councils Geography Challenge.  This national assessment tests skills in geography and puts schools from every state in the nation against one another.  The ten best scores from each school are taken, and then added up.  The highest score wins the competition and is declared that year's National Champions.  We take the test normally at the end of April or the beginning of May and then wait for the results. Once again, for the fourth time in nine years Southern Middle School was advised that they had once again finished first in the nation.  The following Warriors are your National Geography Council Geography Challenge National Champions:  David Suarez, Sarah Hines, Lillie Turpin, Andrew Smith, Maxwell Brainard, Kaitlynn Gover, Bailey Patterson, Clark Lemon, Sydney Wilson, and Chiebuka Onuoha.
Southern Middle School 7th Grade Lady Warriors won the Jeremy Boyles Round Ball Classic at Lincoln County Middle School.
